Made these for a MOPS extra event- making nutritious snacks with kids. We made the first recipe for simplicity (fewest ingredients).
1/2 c frozen fruit of your choice Raspberries and blackberries will be VERY seedy.
1/2 of a banana, frozen (banana not absolutely necessary, but gives texture and sweetness to the smoothy. Total approx 1 c frozen fruit if you choose not to use the banana)
1 c milk
Blend until smooth. May need a touch more milk to allow for blending. This is for the thickest smoothy. For less thickness, use fresh or thawed fruit for a portion of the smoothy. Yield: approx. 2 cups.
Another from one of our MOPS moms:
6oz frozen orange juice concentrate
1 ripe banana OR 1 ½ cups strawberries OR 1 ½ cups peaches (or any other fruit I would imagine.)
1 cup milk
1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
5 ice cubes
Blend all except ice cubes. Add ice cubes one at a time until desired frothiness
Makes 5 8oz servings.
And one more:
1 cup milk (She uses skim), 1 cup of apple juice, 1 strawberry banana yogurt, 1 frozen banana (peel and cut in thirds before freezing), and 1 to 1 1/2 cups of frozen strawberries. Super good and healthy!
